Presidential Candidates - Ron Paul for WNC

From Cherokee to Hickory, Mars Hill to Hendersonville, Asheville North Carolina and the surrounding areas is a great place for the way Ron Paul thinks. Residents living in Appalachian areas have come to love the freedom and friendliness that comes with living on a more local level. People living in the mountains have learned how to sustain themselves, even while keeping an eye out for those around them. Close knit communities understand the concept of "Good fences make good neighbors". You would think that to be common sense, but these days it seems the USA pokes its nose into the business of nearly every country in the world, using its money and power to either subsidize or starve. Maybe thats why even though Ron Paul is a registered Republican, his policies are bringing in people from every party, race and religion. He is not a partisan politician. His platform is based on what's supposed to be the common denominator of all parties, the U.S. Constitution. Meet Ron Paul

What makes Ron Paul a good presidential candidate for the days at hand? He doesn't want power for powers sake. He does not want to dictate policy for foreign countries or here locally. He believes those decisions are better made by the people, in the state which they live. He wants to put the power back into the hands of "We the people". The primary goal of his platform is to return to the principles of the Constitution. He would like to see a federal government that's only as big as it needs to be, to let the "United States of America" and its people create a society that's "for the people, by the people". Please note that this would be a process. If chosen as president, he wouldn't (and couldn't) go in and single handedly change everything to his liking, as it seems our current president has been doing. Ron Paul is the champion of the Constitution and he wants to restore the checks and balances that were put in place by our founding fathers. When Ben Franklin was asked what kind of government they had given the world, he replied, "a republic if you can keep it". He was speaking not merely to them, but to us. The Founders warned us about the dangers of hyper-factionalism, created checks and balances against abuses, and believed in a free press, serving an informed people, in a civil debate, about the public good.
Dr. Ron Paul is currently a congressman. He considers himself to be an obstetrician first, having delivered over 4000 babies. He's also served our country as a flight surgeon in the Air Force. With a scholars mentality he also studied government and economics. He's written many books. He's served in the government for many years, while practicing medicine at the same time! He's been elected to Congress three different times as a non-incumbent. His constituents like him. He's delivered may of them! Many say they don't really mind if his platform doesn't suit them exactly....They like him simply because they trust him. That alone speaks volumes and demonstrates why Ron Paul may be one of the better presidential candidates to trust with your vote.

He comes across as a very smart, yet simple man. Caring and honest but not foolish, ...nothing like the Texan we've grown to know lately. He wants to return to the Constitution that made this country great by passing more power to the states. The federal government has grown so big, its layers of bureaucracy make it ineffective - ie:Katrina, Health Care, Immigration, Tainted Imports, etc. ( The bush administration is not yet finished putting the additional liberty stealing governmental agencies in place after 911, which happened 6 years ago! Our government has grown so big, even putting more of it in place takes a ridiculous amount of time. At this rate, we'll never get anything but talk on issues that effect our nation in a very big way.

Paul's voting record is impeccable. Known as Dr. No to his fellow congressman, Paul doesn't vote for anything that disagrees with the Constitution. What other presidential candidate can show that they have never flip-flopped on an issue? He is dedicated to walking the walk. He disliked Medicaid's policies so much as a doctor he did not take it, rather doing procedures for free or at a sharply discounted rate.

The purpose of this site is to attract and support Ron Paul fans ans well as attract members for the Ron Paul Meetup Groups in Western North Carolina. WNC includes Asheville and the surrounding areas, Mars Hill, Canton, Candler, Weaverville, Leicester, Woodfin, Alexander, Swannanoa, Arden, Fletcher, Fairview, Barnardsville, Black Mountain, etc.
